My father and I were named James Thomas Wall (also his father). He was born 30 June 1903 in New Albany, Indiana. His mother Nora Edna Wright Wall died in New Albany 10 July 1903. Dad was baptized in Catholic Church on 7 July 1903, but raised by Protestant maternal grandparents Lyman Chittenden Wright and Frances Melvina Love Wright. I never saw my grandfather James Thomas Wall. Dad was estranged from him and felt he had been abandoned by him. Dad was a successful newspaper advertising salesman for the Detroit Times, and sold advertising for radio station CKLW, and radio and TV station WJBK. He was an excellent card player, and played duplicate bridge in his retirement. Dad smoked two packs of Lucky Strike cigarettes a day for about 60 years. He stopped when he coughed up blood. He suffered from emphysema and died of lung cancer in hospital in Clearwater, Florida at age 80 years and 21 days. ...more
