She was baptized in the Russian Orthodox Church but later became a member of the Presbyterian Church. Her uncle was identified as George Betz (sic) (Should be Betts) who was a preacher for the Presbyterian faith. Services were held at the Presbyterian Church. Her father died when she was about 9 years old, the family moved to Petersburg at that time. She later returned to Juneau when she married Henry Jackson, her first husband. They had four children, one son died at birth. She first moved to Wrangell, AK in 1927. She later worked in the local fish and shrimp plants following Jackson's death. She became a full time resident of Wrangell in 1940. She met her second husband Chandum Campus in one of the Wrangell canneries, they had three children. She noted that she had first started working for a nickel an hour; it was noted that she felt fortunate getting the work at that time because of 'those competitive times'. She enjoyed roller skating at the Alaska Native Brotherhood hall and dancing. She was a member of the Alaska Native Sisterhood and the Salvation Army Ladies Home League.
