  • This receipt is likely for John B. Lott, of Co. H, 7th South Carolina Volunteers. John was the younger brother of George W. Lott. George did not die at Winchester in 1863 - he lost a leg at Gettysburg but survived the war. His brother John, however, left camp sick just before Gettysburg, and was never heard from again. My theory is that John Lott somehow got to the hospital at Winchester, and may ...more
