A Story about William
Where do I begin Billy was my neighbor. We lived on Circle Drive. He loved teasing all the girls on the Circle. There was riding bikes, kick the can, kickball, walking through the cornfield, firecrackers on my porch, swim parties, playing pool, cards, sledding. daycamp at the Glen. HS drama, Mansfield, clubs, Snowball, parties, the gang almsot getting caught by the cops at the shoe, Niagra Falls, pink champagne on my 18th birthday, Europe, playing checkers with my little sister and so much more. See you at the next reunion, my friend...

Billy....

I think I always knew Billy, from kindergarten on. It was always a competition between the two of us. I was one of the tallest, of girls or boys, til the eighth grade, and then Billy passed me! We used to arm wrestle to see who was the strongest, and we played uptown/downtown cards in lunch. He was my first husband!! Mr. MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie. One scene I had to serve him breakfast with a rubber egg, and the thing slide off the spatula and went flipping through the air, and with almost perfect anticipation of my spasticity, Billy stuck out the plate and caught it! We had all we could do to not break face and bust out laughing! We couldn't do that again in a million years! hahaha
I remember all the band practices, football games, concerts. I remember Graduation night and pool parties. Gillette's was the place to go even college summers-my husband swam in Billy's pool the summer after freshman year! Do folks remember when Billy's Dad gave his mom a "gorgeous, big" anniversary diamond and it slipped off her finger into the garbage disposal and she instinctively reached in to grab it with the disposal still going! She was heartsick, sure Billy's Dad would kill her, and after the plumber the next day, she got it back, but not without a few knicks on her knuckles! Do you remember all the stuffed animals in Billy's Dad's office?
I remember the summer after sophomore year I stated to Billy that I could now drink him under the table! One night out at Cork-n-Bottle, after going pitcher for pitcher about three rounds, Billy said, "Lis, have you ever had a martini? Let me get you one!" "Sure, I'll try anything once!" hahahaha After I downed that martini, it came right back up again, and all over Billy's lap! Needless to say it was my first and last martini ever!
I remember Billy called the day after Joanne died. It meant so much to me that he thought to call and share the news with me. We wrote back and forth a few times over the years. I don't know why we were always in such competition with each other. Maybe he was the brother I never had. He told me at the 20th, I was such a tease, and he always had to take me on! I'm so grateful he found friendship and love with Suzie. He had so much love to give!
On a additional note, I have a Billy in my life. My son Ryan, #3 out of five children, is 6'6", 350 lbs. and has always been the biggest kid in his grade. He has always reminded me of Billy: thoughtful, kind, friendly, nice manners, a teddy bear, a friend to all. Ryan is playing football and studying business/sports management at Stonehill college in MA. I have always worried about this son because of his height and weight. I know it's in God's hands, but I'll especially appreciate every day with this son, my son in the military, and whatever my other two sons and daughter choose to do.
I love you Billy. Come hang out with me any time you want, and until we meet again, you are in my heart and in my prayers. You all are! love, Lis

Dear Fellow Band Members,
Remember leaving from school and on the back of the bus it said, "Florida or bust...". Remember how hot it was in Florida. I remember Circus Circus, looking down the line playing, and seeing a couple of my band mates dropping out of line. I remember Holy Saturday and marchinng in Disney World, boy was it hot.
