Silas Hilton was born in NC and died in Carter County TN. He was in the War of 1812 and his son Arnold filed for his pension in MO. He also had children by his slave Elizabeth Murphy. The descendants Cherokee applications were filed back through Nancy Jane Helton born 1815. To find more go to the Helton family Gen forum. Silas was the son of Peter Helton, Revolutionary Soldier out of Surry NC. He is also Native American and Cherokee Descent. Part of his brothers were John Helton who married Charity Lee and Daniel Smith Hilton 1788 who married Martha Walker.
