Children who died early deaths

Family records say that their first two infants were still born.  One account says that one
died of pneumonia at age 9 and was buried at Itta Bena, Miss.  This is why both Newton and Jessie Cole were buried there.  However the marker for the infant was lost.

J.D. Cole is listed as the oldest child in 1930 Census.  He was always called "JD".  In his obituary, his name was revealed to be John David Cole.  JD was mentally challenged and lived most of his life at Whitfield Instutition in Ellisville, Miss.  He never married nor had children.

They had twins: Edward Gray and Edna May.  Edward Gray died at 22 months of age.  Edna May married Homer Proctor and lived in Ethel, Miss.

Note: The 1930 Census also lists a 9-year old child as "Jessie P." which is the name of their mother.  Howvever this has to be an error in the Census as their youngest daughter was Marion Josephine who was born in 1920.  See Marion Brown's link.
