St Anthony's Orphanage; Ollie's Father was born in Poland, and his Mother unknown, but he was raised in Lucas County, OHIO, St Anthony's Orphanage.  Obviously a very intelligent lad, he was in all kinds of activities, from the Yearbook that we have photo's of.  He played Golf !  Graduated Highschool in 1939.  No other known family.

T/Sgt. Nowakowski was in A/C No. 43-3413, that Exploded in the Air, and Crashed in Lake Lesina, near Foggia, Italy, on that Awful Day.  His other crew members were 1Lt. William J. Toltzman; T/Sgt. Frank T. Orfila; Sgt. Elmer S. Atkinson; Sgt. George F. Brandt; Pvt. Earl W. Edwards; and Sgt. Walter J. Cheatle

Saturday, 19 February 1944    447th BS:  Extracts from Missing Air Crew Report # 2717:  Remains of wrecked plane were found in Lake Lesina, NE of Foggia and bodies of T/Sgt. Nowakowski and Sgt. Cheatle were identified.  It is believed that the remaining persons are in the wreckage, recovery of which is being made by the 319th Service Group.  As soon as additional persons are recovered, subsequent records will be submitted.
