Son of Nicholas & Rebecca (Acaster) Bateman of Kellington, Yorkshire, England, christened August 22, 1822 in St. Giles' Church (Pontefract, Yorkshire). A letter in my possession dated 1899 implies that Edward Bateman, younger brother of my ggg-grandfather, Henry Acaster Bateman migrated to the U.S. The writer, niece of the two brothers, was wondering what had happened to Edward. After the war, Edward returned to Bethlehem. He never married and died 30 May 1878. He is buried in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery in Bethlehem.
