George Alphonse Fox was born July 20, 1894 at Oakville, Plaquemine Parish, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana State University for three years and then started railroading with the Southern Pacific and in 1914 was with the Illinois Central in Harahan, Louisiana.
George joined the US Army in 1917 and served in France until August 22, 1919 during World War I.
George married Beulah Ducote in 1924 in Cottonport, Louisiana. They had 6 children and lived in New Orleans, Louisiana where George was employrf with the Illinois Central. He was a well respected father, worker and citizen. After 50 years he retired in 1964 to enjoy his hobbies of radio ham operator and fishing.
In 1969 his sons Raymond T. Fox and John L. Fox and Ben C. Fox privately published the book "Fox Genealogy - From Thomas Fox of New England To His Descendants in Louisiana". The Intrdouction of the book is dedicated to George A. Fox and states ".....a good husband, a good father, a hard worker and a law abiding citizen. He was a ma of highmoral character. If his rule of life had to be described it would have to be said he practiced moderation in all things. Goerge A. Fox will not live forever in the history books but by his steady example and strong influences, his qualities will live in his children and hopefully in all future Fox generations."
