During a time when psychedelic rock'n'roll was popular throughout the United States, Crosby, Stills and Nash were a low-key group that emphasized singing, songwriting, and vocal harmony. Each band member, including the last one to join, Neil Young, had made a career for himself before joining forces. They called their sound “wooden music,” because of their frequent use of acoustic instruments, and created a style of rock that centered on the song and its meaning. While the quartet often disbanded and reunited, they continue to play the same music with the same messages of change, hope, love, and traveling forward.
