John was my penpal whose name I received in high school to write to & send care packages to. I once had his picture, but have lost it since the late 60's. He sent me mail daily & I sent him mail back. My mother helped me packed a gift box of chocolate, cigarettes & whatever else he requested. I never had his home address to send condolences to his family. Our last package sent to him was appreciated by his buddies on the line who sent me a letter back saying he was killed in action.
I've visited the Moving Wall many times to say hello to my friend.
