David Served his country until death

| DaNang, Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam

David Allen Scritchfield

During the Vietnam War our family and nation was served by the sacrifice of David Allen Scritchfield who was killed in action. Dave was in the first Marines second battalion.

David was shot through the neck by a sniper while on guard duty t the air base in Da Nang Vietnam . He lived a short time then died. His body was escorted back to his family by me (Kenneth E Sutphin) to Buffalo, NY where he was buried by his Father, Mother and Brother.

My tribute to him can be found on the internet at www.thevirtualwall.com.

Davy I was honored to have grown up with you and enjoyed the fun and play we had together. The joke we pulled on my Mom is stilled talked about today. We were raised in a time when it was honorable to follow your father to serve one's country and we did it. I miss you Davy. I think of all the life I have had and you missed out. I married, raised a fine family and now have grandchildren. These things you never got to enjoy. You gave your all for your Marine brothers, family, and country. No other sacrifice can be greater than the love of all expressed by you on that fateful day in September.

Now our Country faces another challenge but a different kind of war that was started on the 34th anniversary of your death September 11, 2001, I pray for you and us.

Space Society current as of 1998 were included. In addition, as a special tribute, all names on the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC were included.
