Eli Collins, WWI

Ky

Eli Collins served in WWI however, I have been unable to find his records. He had several medals. He was shot in the hand while saving a high ranking officer from an ambush. He received a purple heart that my family still has. His headstone says private. He was sent home after being wounded. He was never able to close his hand all the way and had a small bump in the middle of his palm. If anyone can find his records, I would appreciate it. SSN 406-05-4253 married Martha Parker Collins.

Eli Collins brothers, WW1 Co. A 2nd Inf.

Hyden, Ky

William O Bradley Collins b: 1896 Ky, and Heywood Collins b: 1988 Ky, signed up for the war, Eli Collins b:1883 lied about his age in order to join and fight with his younger brothers. This is all I know so far. After his age was discovered they would not let him fight any more. This may have been discovered once he was wounded in the hand.
