1850 Census for Washington County: 19 free coloured males; 16 free coloured females; 5,738 slaves. 159 deaths. 632 farms. Early settlers: John Daniel. Friday after 29 March 1788 - Mr. Daniell was scalped by Indians. The first Superior Court for this County was held on 22 May 1787, names of the Grand Jurors included John Daniel, Sen.
