It gives Aleck's date of birth as 15 Jan 1861 in Granby, Newton, MO. It says he died 7 Nov 1916 from Miner Comsumption (Pulmonary Tuber____). He was living in Webb City, Jasper, MO at the time of death.

On 1880 census in Newton Co., living with brother Harvey and wife. Martha. Age is given as 23 which would yield a birthdate of about 1857. This date would be more in line with his mother's birthdate of about 1815. She might have had a last child at 42 but it's less likely at 46. His tombstone reads birth 15 Jan 1861, according to Pioneers of the Six Bulls. Miner. Moved to Webb City about 1910.

Dorothy Nelson McClaren says Alexander was born in 1857 in Nashville, TN. Both of his parents died during or soon after the Civil War. At that time, Alexander was only four years and was raised by an older brother, Harve Trent. He worked in the lead mines around Granby.

Alexander married Ida Mae Broan on 2 Oct 1887 in Newton County, MO. Ida's brother, Samuel, gave them a house for a wedding present where they lived until they moved to Webb City, MO around 1910. By that time, mining was better in the Webb City area. All of their eight children were born in Granby, MO. Alexander and Ida Mae were charter members of the Knights and Ladies of Security Lodge in Granby, now called the Security Benefit Association.

Another account says the family moved to Royal Heights in 1913 or 14 where Alex died in 1916 of Miner's TB. He is buried in Granby, MO. Royal Heights in later years became part of Joplin, MO. His wife, Ida Mae, lived at Royal Heights for awhile then went back to Webb City for a time before her death on 29 May 1968. She would have been 98 years old on her next birthday. She is buried by her husband in Granby, MO.
