Student Pastorate

| Jeffersonville, Indiana

Floyd William Ratliff, known as Bill Ratliff, served as the student and then interim pastor of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Jeffersonville, Indiana during 1976-1977.  He was a student at Southern Baptist Seminary.  He was known as Bill Ratliff to the congregation.  He was born September 29, 1942 in Texas and raised in New Mexico.  As a young man he had appointments to both West Point and Annapolis, and chose the U.S. Naval Academy.  After receiving his commission as Ensign in 1964 he spent five years in the Navy, two of those years in Vietnam.  After he left the military in 1969, he came to Louisville to Southern Baptist Seminary and earned both his M.Div. and Ph.D.  He continued to work at the Seminary until 1978.  During his years in the ministry he served churches in Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri, and New Mexico.  Floyd William Ratliff passed away on March 31, 2009.
