I interviewed Jay's younger brother Ted Young about their experiences in WWII. Jay's four other brothers including Ted served in the military. Jay wrote a letter home to his sister one month before the Pearl Harbor attacks. He writes in his letter how the USS Arizona was supposed to be deployed back to the states for maintenance. But for some reason, they were detained in Pearl Harbor and had to stay. Jay mentions how upset the sailors were that they had to stay. Little did they know that many of them would be killed a little more than a month later. Ted doesn't view himself or his brothers that served in WWII as heroes. I beg to differ. It's great men like this that paid a great sacrifice fin order for me to have the type of life I have today. You can see the letter that I mentioned on Jay's Hero Page. Just go to the Heroes Page and type in Jay Wesley Young.
