The Tomich Medal of Honor was finally presented to Tomich's cousin in Croatia after taking nine years to locate the cousin.

Peter was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for his service at Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Utah. Because Peter had no living relatives, his medal remains the only award never given to a living recipient.
