My grandfather Howard was killed in action on 12 December 1944 during the battle for Peleliu. Officially listed as body not recovered seven miles at sea off Pityilu Island(Admiralty Islands) New Guinea. His rank was AMM 1/C and he was the recepient of the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.
