Migration Path for this Sylvester HOSMER as follows: 1) Born in Connecticut. Unable to find primary source document for this - or the marriage of the parents for that matter. Parents were the Revolutionary War veteran Graves HOSMER (who served for CT) and his wife Amy CONGDON. Sylvester was one of many children of this couple. The first few children were born in CT at the turn of the century. (1790s) 2) The parents and existing children migrated from CT to what was then Hartford (then Avon) in what was then Ontario Co (later Livingston Co), New York. More children were born there. (Sylvester's siblings) The location wasn't random. Graves Hosmer's older brother - Timothy HOSMER (Rev War surgeon) - was one of the founders of that town. Both he (Timothy) and his brother (Graves) and their spouses are buried in Avon, Livingston Co, NY. 3) I can't show when or where Sylvester HOSMER married, but do know his spouse was Rebecca KITTREDGE. 4) Unsure when - but he (or they?) migrated west from Livingston Co, NY over to Niagara Co, NY and settled in the town of Wilson, NY 5) Can follow his life and family through the US Fed Census there. This census image is one of several that exist. Generations after him continued to live in Niagara Co, NY. 6) Sylvester HOSMER and wife Rebecca are buried in Wilson, Niagara Co, NY. I have a photo of their double tombstone, in Greenwood Cemetery. 7) Stephen HOSMER (CT) > Graves HOSMER (CT then NY) > Sylvester HOSMER (CT then NY) 8) Notes by Deb Smith, dasgen@gmail.com - June 2008
