High School Best Friend

John Wayne Held (Jack) was my best friend in High School. After he graduated from Annapolis and I from the U off Fla we lost track of each other, during the 60's. Tried several times to make contact, but was unsucessful until I found his name on the Wall in DC. It gave the home town of Indy, and after numrerous searches fround a nephew in Indy who steared me to a closer relative in Florida. Was able to contact his daughter living in Texas, and had numerous emails regarding Jack and his High School days. As I recall she was about 4 when she last saw him.

Let us not forget those who were lost defending our country!

I also have one of Major John Held's POW/MIA bracelets. I received it while a high school student in a very small eastern Illinois town. I have been watching the series, Vietnam in HD, the last couple of days and it got me thinking of the bracelet I have kept all these years. I had always wondered if he ever made it home and never knew the answer until today. I am so sad and feel very sorry for his family. Tomorrow is Veteran's Day. I will be wearing his bracelet in his honor. If the family would like to have it, please contact me at kaytay@charter.net
