I had the pleasure of serving with LT Meyerkord in the early 60's aboard the USS Duncan DDR - 874. He was a fine officer and I knew him quite well. He always wanted to be where the action was and finally got his wish, unfortunately that wish claimed his life way too soon. William Harlan
