Roy's brother's name is Paul. I grew up with them in Tulsa. I was assigned to FASU Binh Thuy, home of VAL-4 and HAL-3 after Roy was lost. When I returned to Tulsa, after my tour of duty. My Dad and I visited Roy's Mother and I told her what information I had gathered about Roy's accident. If I remember correctly; he and his brother were both wrestlers and graduated from Edison High School with PeeWee Johnson our mutual friend.

I went through flight training with Roy in Pensacola, Whiting Field, Corpus Christi and San Diego. I am elated to find his photograph, some history and comments from those who knew him. I met his brother John[?] who was in the Public Health Service. I remember Roy being one of a kind and fearless. He fell while mountain climbing and nearly killed himself. It was a very sad day for me when I learned of his passing. His memory will never leave me. I believe his father was named Dean and at the time lived in Chicago. The loss of a family member in combat leaves a wound that never heals. I am grateful to the person who made this information available and would welcome hearing from anyone about Roy. Roy was my brother. He would always wrestle with me and my stuffed turtle. I miss him dearly.

Roy Sikkink was my fraternity little brother. Very smart - virtually a straight A student at the University of Oklahoma, athletic, great sense of humor and a valued friend. He was well liked by all ... a groomsman in my wedding. I can visualize his silly grin just now. I miss him. May God bless him richly for his ultimate sacrifice for country and may God rest his soul! j.b.

Larry Hone from Eatonton, GA, reports "Roy D Sikkink was in my squadron, VAL-4. We'd also gone to high school together in Tulsa, OK. This was a Navy squadron. You list his job as some sort of engineering role USMC. This is an error."
