Edward is likely Edward M. Craycroft, son of Edward Scott Craycroft and Elizabeth Travis. Elizabeth died in October, 1853, possibly giving birth to Edward or as a result of the delivery. I think that after Elizabeth died Edward Scott (who was my 3rd great-grandfather) left his son Edward M. with the Fortners and returned to Maryland. According to records Edward Scott married Ann Halford on January 22, 1855, in Montgomery County, Maryland.
