Military Service

Clyde enlisted October 18, 1941, Fort Thomas, Kentucky attained the rank of T/Sgt and was honorably discharged October 16, 1945 at Sioux City, Iowa.

He served in the Pacific Theatre with the 90th Bomb Group, 320th Squadron, 5th Air Force referred to as the "Jolly Rogers".  He was the Engineer his fellow crew members were Alfred W. Faahs (Pilot); Herbert Goodrich (Co-pilot); George W. Pracher (Navigator); Richard H. Collins (Bombardier); Charles E. Turpin (Radio Operator); Howard L. Kendrick (Nose Gunner); Robert Crowder (Asst. Engineer); Andrew L. Barkhurst (Armorer) and James DeMuynck (Tail Gunner). The crew saw action at New Guinea, Bismarck, Archipelago, Northern Solomons

Medals received include DFC - Air Medal - Good Conduct - American Defense Service Asiatic Pacific Service/3 Bronze Stars - Distinguished Unit Badge
