I found a poem my father Earl Sears wrote about his best friend after he found out about Kentis' death.

IN MEMORY OF KENTIS NOLAND---------MY FRIEND

Remember Kentis, we pledged to be

Friends until Eternity

But Kentis, for you the pledge is over and done

For you, Eternity has come.

I'm thinking of you, Kentis my friend

as the was has come to it's end.

I think back three, four years or more,

Of that drugstore, football field, or even the dance floor.

We wanted to play, have fun, joke and kid,

and mostly we always did.

I can remember our old hunting ground

for which mostly you and I were always bound.

We used to dash in at noon and ate enough for ten

I thought surely your mother would put us in a pen-

There was always one thing she made that no one could drag us away from with a loop,

You and I always loved her tomato soup.

We wanted no trouble, you and me,

but some people in the world just wouldn't let us be.

Then upon that fateful day in December,

of this world war two, we became a member.

We both knew upon that day,

that our time at home wasn't far away.

You left first, about a month or two,

then I followed hoping to be with you.

You went across that lonely sea,

so the flag of this country might ever be.

Then upon March first, that fateful day,

I knew then that across the sea you would always stay.

You were a guy I wanted to know a long lifetime,

but you had to die for another guy's crime.

As I sit here writing these words - so sad,

I think of the one answer that is to be had;

I know that the HIGH COMMAND, supremely wise,

had transferred by BUDDY to PARADISE.
