Thelma was a birdwatcher, a Girl Scout leader, associated with Stage Crafters, a local theater group, and a genealogist. She was also a member and officer of the Garden Club and the Women's Club. I first met Thelma when she was volunteering at the Family History Center (LDS). She gave one of the classes at a genealogy seminar that I attended. Later on, we would work together on the late afternoon shift at the Family HIstory Center. Then, she offered me the opportunity to co-teach a genealogy class at the Center for Life-Long Learning; we taught together for several years before Thelma passed away. Thelma had many friends and spent many hours serving the community. She had a remarkable talent for retelling the family stories she had heard as a girl.
