The USS Grunion was attacked and sunk July 31, 1942 near Kiska Harbor, Alaska. All hands lost. The sub was found August, 2007 and verified by the US Navy October, 2008. A memorial service was held for the crew in Cleveland, OH., October 9th, 2008, at the site of the USS Cod. Over 200 family and friends attended the service.
