"Henry J. Pennartz, age 95, oldest man of Windthorst, Texas passed away Monday morning, June 19, 2017, at his residence.

Vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst with Rev. Michael Moloney, O.F.S. Parochial Administrator of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Henry was born June 10, 1922 in Windthorst to the late Jacob and Annie Schreiber Pennartz.

Henry attended school in Windthorst until he had to help his family with the farming. He then went into the Army [7 Sept 1942]. He honorably and proudly served his country during the American Theater Campaign and Asiatic Pacific where he earned two Bronze Stars.

He married the love of his life, Mildred Marie Berend on July 1, 1946 in Windthorst.

After his tour of duty, he returned to Windthorst and worked on a dairy until moving to his present home where he farmed his land. Henry also was a dozer operator until his retirement. He then worked for St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he maintained the church grounds and the cemetery for over fifteen years.

Henry was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing dominoes, sheephead, card games, mowing the grass and shelling pecans. Henry was an avid blood donor to the Red Cross.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Mildred Pennartz of Windthorst; five daughters, Thelma Vieth and husband, Bobby of Odessa, Pearl Middleton of Ft. Worth, Anna Marie Pennartz and husband Robert Smith of Wichita Falls, Teresa Warner of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Neysa Colvin and husband, Steven of Weatherford; six sons, David Pennartz of Loving, Allen and wife, Clydene of Wichita Falls, Ralph Pennartz and wife, Nancy of Wichita Falls, Joseph Pennartz and wife, Julie of Windthorst, Troy Pennartz of Wichita Falls, and Roy Pennartz of Windthorst; one sister, Helen O’Niel of Florida; twenty-six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Clyde and Bruce; two daughters-in-law, Frances Pennartz and Neoma Pennartz; five sisters and four brothers.
