2nd Lieutenant Curtis A. Smith, Hero.

World War II - England

2nd Lieutenant Curtis A. Smith died in an accident shortly after take-off from Templeton Air Field, England.  He was 22 years of age and it was his greatest wish to become a pilot.  He got that wish to fly a P-38 Lightening Fighter with the 364th Fighter Group as a Bomber Escort over Germany.  His plane crash site was excavated by a group of dedicated men in England several year ago.  After contact they sent my father, Curtis' only brother several items they recovered from the site.  The family will be eternally grateful.
