ENLISTED IN THE ARMY AIR FORCES ON 7 APRIL 1944 AT INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA. SERVED AS A WAIST GUNNER ONBOARD A BOEING B-17 BOMBER. ASSIGNED TO THE 3018TH ARMY AIR FORCE BASE UNIT, KINGMAN, ARIZONA. STAYED ON ACTIVE DUTY AND BECAME A NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER IN CHARGE OF THE USAF SPECIAL WEAPONS TEST CENTER ENGINEERING DRAFTING SECTION AT KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE NEAR ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO. HONORABLY RETIRED FROM ACTIVE DUTY ON 30 JUNE 1970.  GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN; 6 MAY 1977.
