Born on Dec. 20, 1922 to Elbert Ernest Hylton Sr. and Susanna "Susie" McAlexander Hylton. He was known to family and friends as Junior. He was a coal miner in WV and KY, before moving to Bassett, VA where he worked for Helms Roofing Co. Later went to work in maintenance at Stanley Furniture Co. were he retired.

Junior, entered the US Army as a Pfc. on Feb. 23, 1943, @ Ft. Thomas, Ky.; Camps Wolters, Tex. Shenango Pa.; Ft. Lawton, Wash.; Attu Aleutian Islands,; Ft. Benning, Ga.; Ft. Meade, Md.

Awarded BS, G, Cond. M.; VM, Amer. AP.

On Sept. 18, 1988, Junior passed quitely in is sleep.
