Kermit H. Lipscomb was in the Army Air Force. He began his training in Field Artillery at at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio on 26 Mar 1941. When he left Fort Hayes, his military record was Army Speciality: Lineman, Character: Excellent, Transferred to Enlisted Reserves Corps 23 Sept 1941.

By 1 Feb 1942, he was stationed at Mitchel Field, New York. On 29 June 1942, he was stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Then on 11 December 1942, he was assigned to Cassablanca, French Morocco.

In Cassablanca, French Morocco Lipscomb served as an Airplane and Engine Electrical Accessories Repairman with the 962nd Air Engineer Sq. 536th Air Ser. Gp. He received the Army Air Force Tech Badge 17 Feb 1945.

The battles and campaigns in which Lipscomb participated were Algeria, French Morocco, Tunisa, Sicily Naples Foggia, Rome and Arno. The decorations and citations he received were the Good Conduct Medal, G012 Hq 43rd Service Gp 44 and the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon. A Lapel Button was issued for no time lost under AW 107 ASR Score (12 May 1945) 101.

After the war, Lipscomb came home and married his sweetheart. They settled in Richwood, Nicholas County, WV and raised a three children. Kermit Lipscomb died 12 Nov 1984 at the age of 74 after struggling with heart disease. He was very proud to have served his country.
