Floyd enter the service on April 5, 1943 at Fort Knox,Ky

Southern France

Spending Thanksgiving Day i943 inAfrica,He saw combat on the Anzio Beachhead with the 7th infantry beginning withFeb. 1944. In may the Heskitts received a lett from Floyds Commanding Officer: AS Sargent Heskitts Comanding Officer,I wish to take this opportunity of writting you to let you Know what a splended work he is doing on the nzio Beachhead.  He has always exhhibited fine leadership and personal courage. He is like and respected by his squad.

Floyd conttinued in combat in Italy untilhe was woundedin thehand by shell fragments in the had, for which he was hospitlized for about 2 months, being released in time to take part in the invasion of Southrn France, where he was again wonded by shell fragments. After a period of rest he was back in active combat fom Nov. 25 until Jan 31st 1945, when he was killed in action in Northern France.

He was back home and laid to rest In March of 1945!
