Signal Corps of the US army Air Force in WW II. Trained in Camp Parry, Ohio: Atlantic City. NJ; Seymor Johnson Field, NC; Drew Field Fla; Camp Shanks. NY; Chapel Row, England; RAF Air Force Base, Yatesbury Wilts, England and Henley on the Thames, England.

Inducted (drafted) 15 Feb 1943 at Cleveland, Ohio into the United States Army Airforce Signal Corps, 3rd Air Force, 702 Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion. Transfered to the 563 Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion. The 563 Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion Company C in Scotland, 9 Dec 1943. Elevated to rank of Sergeant and Platoon Leader. Landed in the European invasion June 9, 1944 on Omaha Beach, France. Wounded on 20 July 1944 near tip of the Cherboug Peninsula with shrapnel from a German 20mm shell. Both eyes, both Hands, Thorax and abdomen hit, lost right eye. Returned to England to US Army General Hospital. Returned to duty with 705 Military Police in Weymouth, England and then sent to Pavilly, France with the same MP's. Transfered to 555 Anti Aircraft Battalion when Military Police were sent to the SouthPacific theater of operations. The 555 A A Battalion was not an active artillery unit and was assigned to guard the quays and docks in Amersterdam, Netherlands. Entered hospital in Brussel's Belguim and returned to USA and Valley Forge Army General Hospital late 1945 for plastic surgery on right eye area. Discharged from Camp Atterbury, Ind 15 Apr 1946.
