Daddy's war stories

James Wilson Giddens was my father and told me he served in Italy during WWII, landing at Naples, there being so many ships anchored one could walk from one to another to get to shore.

He also told me he saw Mussolini and his wife hanging upside down and people spitting on them.

These are the only things I remember, but I know he suffered all his adult years with trench foot.  I remember seeing him take a pocketknife and cut thick patches of dead skin from between his toes.
