Purple Heart

| Natchez, MS

This is my grandfather.  We found a record of a Purple Heart being award to him, but we found it after his death and didn't get a chance to talk to him about it.  He fought against Rommel in East Africa and was left for dead in the field but managed to crawl back to camp.  He was a hard working man and died way to young - he was only 56 years old.  He strength showed when he suffered a series of several strokes and crawled over several hundred feet to his office from the entrance gate - just like he had crawled in that desert long ago.  He died about 6 weeks later.
