Obit: Lawrence E. O'Lay, 65, of 20 Melvin Ave., died at 9:05 am Sunday at the Bradford Hospital. He was born June 25, 1915 in Johnsonburg, a son of Paul and Estella Williams O'Lay. He attended Johnsonburg schools and on June 10, 1934, in Ridgway, he married Hazel Bliss, who survives. The couple lived in Bradford the past 20 years. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the European theater. Since moving to Bradford he was employed in Bradford as a bricklayer and stonemason, retiring in June 1979. He was a member of the Bradford Bricklayer and Stonemasons Union Local No. 24. He had transferred from Local No. 2, Niagara Falls, NY in 1953. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Lawrence E. O'Lay of North Tonawanda, NY and Roger O'Lay of Bradford; two daughters, Mrs. Trudy Harris of Bradford and Miss Myrna O'Lay of Niagara Falls; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Quenten O'Lay of Youngstown, NY and Charles O'Lay of Newfane, NY; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Babcock and Mrs. Florence Finitz, both of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Caroline Jones of Johnsonburg; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday at the Bradford Funeral Home with the Rev. James DuBois of the Asbury United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Bridgeview Cemetery, Mount Jewett.

ANNOUNCEMENT -- Mr. and Mrs. Claude M. Bliss announce the marriage of their daughter Miss Hazel Claudyne Bliss of this place to Mr. Lawrence Everett O'Lay of Johnsonburg, Pa., January 10th, 1934, the beautiful ring ceremony being performed by Dr. L. M. Barnard pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church at Ridgway. They were attended by Miss Carolyn O'Lay as bridesmaid and Charles Fulton, as best man. The bride is a graduate of the class of 1934 of Snyder Township High School and Mr. O'Lay is a graduate of Johnsonburg, Pa., High School class of 1935. They will make their home in Johnsonburg where the groom holds a responsible position. Their many friends extend their most hearty congratulations.
