Stories

Ralph's older brother, John George (aka Jack) enlisted in the army a month before Ralph.  The two brothers shared a birthday, October 26 and Jack was 10 years older.  They were pleasantly surprised when they noticed their names posted in the same barracks and bunks.  Ralph spent time in North Africa and Italy as a medic.  Near the end of the war, 40 German soldiers surrendered and he took them on a bus to a nearby hospital.  A year after the war ended, his wife, Lucia, traveled to the US.  She and other war brides arrived via the ship Algonquin. Ralph went on to become a composer of at least 2 dozen piano teaching pieces that were published by Theodore Presser Co., Chas. H. Hansen Music Corp. and M. Witmark & Sons. The pieces include Hanon in Rhythm, Tempo Time, Popular Piano Playing, Scales, Chords and Arpeggios and Songs from Sunny Italy.  He had one daughter and two grandsons, Rob and Andrew.  Ralph passed away January 6, 1991.  He is buried at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. and is buried next to his brother, Jack, who died the following year.
