ames Anthony was born March 27, 1918 West Winfield (Butler County), Pa. The town was located near the cement plant; today the town is gone.

 

James attended St Fidelis Seminary at Herman (Butler County) Pa, studying for the priesthood. We do not know the reason he left. For a time afterward, he worked at the cement company in his town (West Winfield). World War II began and he entered the Army and was later Honorably Discharged.

 

After the war, since the education at St Fidelis was not recognized for at least a high school diploma, James attended Butler High School. He graduated June 1946.

 

Next he went to the University of Pittsburgh and earned a degree as a Mechanical Engineer.
