After John's death his family was informed his promotion was activated to First Lieutenant after the war. He never knew it. John was sent to Japan for the post war occupation with the Army Corp of Engineers. After active duty John served in the Reserves for five years. John worked for several construction companies in Philadelphia, Pa. This is where he met his wife, Mary E. Jordan.
