According to the Lockport, NY, Daily-Sun & Union Journal, May 8, 1945 "Pfc. Joseph S. Licata, 22, fo the Marines and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Licata of 218 South St., was wounded in action against the enemy in the Palau Islands. He was admitted to a hospital Sept. 29, 1944." The newspaper is in the collections of the Niagara County (NY) Historians Office.
