John was born in 1921 in Conn. and was residing in Conn. when he joined the US Army at Hartford, Conn. on 17 July, 1942, he had completed high school and was working as an electrician at the time of enlistment. John was single.

John Cervini was a Radio/Gunner in WWII with the 12th Bomb Group, the 34th Bomb Squad out of North Africa and Italy in the B-25 Mitchell Medium Bomber. He was shot down on 7 January, 1944 on a Combat Mission from Foggia, Italy to bomb the Perugia Airdrome, Italy. Of the Crew, Pilot Leo Getz, Bomb/Nav. Darryl J Inabnit and Tail-Gunner Howard Brown were KIA. Those who made it to the ground were taken as POW's…. Co-Pilot Edward McEnaney, Radio/Gunner John Cervini and Top-Gunner Cornelius Troost.

His MIA went to Mrs. Margaret Clancy (Aunt) at 38 Benton Street, (something) Connecticut.
