Bob, Robert Charles Sweikert, changed his name, when entering the military, from SCHWEIKART, to Sweikert. Newspapers have misquoted the number of children that Bob fathered, he only fathered two biological daughters, Carole & Cynthia. Bob, who loved literature, regularly wrote to his wife's father, Bill Edwards and to his closest friends, Karl & Veda Orr, from 1948 through June 15, 1956.

In September 1955, Bob Sweikert became the only driver in history to win the original American Motor Sport Triple Crown, by sweeping the Indianapolis 500, the AAA big car National Championship, and the Midwest Sprint Car Championship. Bob was one of the early drivers of the modern Formula1 race cars.. He was inducted into several Halls Of Fame. At the time of his death, from mechanical failure, Bob was approved, financed and ready to begin racing in Europe.
