Robert Killian War Record   Mon, 13 Jun 2011
I am Robert Faherty Killian's son-in-law, and would be very much interested in participating in the web-site, even with some pictures, stories, etc.  Bob married and had seven children, of which the three boys that have much of his military mementoes.     I believe he was shot down twice during the war, once when behind enemy lines where he was hidden by the Italian underground.  He had been missing long enough for his young wife Lora to receive a "missing in action" telegram.   After the war, he remained in the Air Force, flying bombers until retirement ~1962.  Besides serving in Europe, he was stationed at Eckland AFB, Ft Walton Beach; Scott AFB; an air base England, and New York.  He and Lora settled in Rolla, Mo. and raised their seven children.  He made his living selling insurance with Equitable Insurance Company, primarily at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.  Bob had a heart attack and died August 13, 1977.  Bob and Lora have 25 grandchildren.  Lora still resides in Rolla, Mo.

Greg Zweig (Patti Johnson, 57th BW Historical Researcher)  I have Robert on my tree because he is related to my daughter-in-law, Nicole Devenyns. I got an ancestry message from Patti Johnson asking for permission to put information on Robert on a website. I thought you might know of some living relatives that might want to contact Patti. Her message to me was as follows:
I am a researcher with the 57th Bomb Wing, and Robert F. Killian, was one of OUR Pilots. I have added a comment to your tree, regarding (then) 1st Lt. Killian's Mission, when his plane was shot down. We would like the family's
permission and participation in honoring him at the 57th BW website.
Thank you. God Bless. Patti       Robert Faherty Killian (1922-1977)
