*Eddie and his crew was sent to the base in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Then to the Rattlesnake Bomber Base in Pyote, Texas where they flew training missions to New Orleans, Tennessee and Colorado.

*They were then sent to Kearney, Nebraska to pick up their new B-17.

*Jan. 1944 they left for Europe, stopping in Maine to pick up fuel. They stayed 1 1/2 days then left for Goose Bay, Labrador. They immediatley left for Ireland on way to Europe. Stopped at base in Nuts Corner, Ireland, stayed 1 1/2 days the left for London. They dropped plane off at Bovington to ready it for combat, then left for Snetterton Heath airbase in England where they were stationed.

*March 26, 1944: 1st bombing mission ("milk run")-Target:Cherburg Peninsula @ Mesnil Au Val.

*March 28, 1944: 2nd "milk run"-Target:Chateau, France.

*April 9, 1944: Raid into Posen, Poland and Rostock, Germany.

*April 18, 1944: Bombed Uneberg, Germany's Luftwaffe installations.

*April 24, 1944: Raid on Friedrickshaven, Germany.

*April 25, 1944: Target-Dijon, France.

*The crew named their plane, "The Chief" after the pilot, Harold Niswonger. He was was part Native American.

*April 29, 1944: Brunswick

*May 7, 1944: Target-Berlin

*May 8, 1944: Their 12th mission. Target-Berlin. About 10:00 A.M. the plane was shot then exploded less than 10 mins. later. Robert Morrison and Harold Niswonger went down with the plane. The rest of the crew parachuted out. John Caum was killed either when he hit the ground or by civilians when he landed. The rest of the crew were captured and were P.O.W's.
