   Robert was born the 3rd child to William and Catherine Negle, 1st is daughter Margaret, 2nd is son William and 3rd is Robert S Nagle, of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, PA.  Robert entered the AAC from Pittsburg, PA 27 March, 1942.   He had completed 2 years of college and was still single at enlistment.   

    Robert was a Lt in the 310th Bomb Group, 380th Bomb Squadron, WWII in the Mediterranean.  His ship was shot-down at Sea and according to the "Charleroi Mail Newspaper", PA, Robert repeatedly went back into the water-logged compartments and pulled out his B-25 Mitchell ship-mates, until exhausted he drowned before Rescue vessels could arrive. Robert was awaded the "Soldier's Medal, the Purple Heart, Air Medal with 2 Oak leaf clusters..... Other Awards"  He is listed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Rome-Sicily American Battle Monument Memorial, Nettuno, Lazio Region, Italy.  Lt Negle entered the Service from PA, was a 2nd Lt. in the B-25 Mitchell with the 310thBG,380thBS, Died Monday, 13 March, 1944 and Robert was a Catholic.
