Forrest was my oldest brother. He grew up in Pompton Plains, NJ, graduated from Butler High School, and attended Bucknell University (PA). Before graduating from college he joined the Army Air Corps and went south for training. After graduating from flight training, he became an instructor for pilots, and at that time married Marie Grabowski. Prior to leaving for England, Marie gave birth to their son - Forrest S. Chilton IV.

Forrest was killed soon after arriving in England (June 21, 1944) when his bomber plane was shot down by Germans over the English Channel. Although he was seen bailing from the plane, his body was never recovered.

In 1954 the doors of the Forrest S. Chilton lll Memorial Hospital opened. Forrest's parents, Dr. and Mrs. F. Chilton, had given land for the much needed hospital, and it was built in memory of Forrest, and all the men and women of the area who had been killed in the service of our country.
