KILLED IN ACTION on 01 February 1944~On a Sea Sweep Bombing Mission, Port
of Departure of Gambut, as the formation flew broadside, over a three enemy
ship convoy, it is believed that A/C # 42-64770 was hit by Flak as it was
crossing the ships. When last seen, it was burning at either the left engine
or the left gas tank. It crashed heavily into the sea about 30 seconds
later, nose down at about a 25 degree angle.
