Sergeant Joseph John White, An Engineer-Gunner in the B-25 Mitchells of the 321st BG, the 448th BS in the Mediterranean Theatre.  He was there between May and Nov. 1944.

   Joseph was residing in Suffolk County, Mass. and enlisted in Boston Mass. on 26 Oct. 1942 and was accepted directly into the the Army Air Corp as a Private.  He was born in 1917 in Massachusetts, completed 2 years of high school,  is white, a citizen and was married at enlistment.  Joseph was employed in construction at the time.

321st Bomb Group, 448th Bomb Squadron War-Diary;

Assigned to the 448th BS:

May 22– 31 – 44: Squadron strength as of 31 May 106 Officers and 340 Enlisted Men, the greatest strength yet reached by the organization. The following Officers and Enlisted Men assigned and joined during this period: Lieutenants: Kirk, Luckhaupt, Riley, Rosenau, Winstead, McKinley; the following Sergeants were assigned and joined: Haack, Goldstein, Wald, Trigler,   **  White,  **  Poteet and Knauss; Corporals: Wolfe, Reber, Szvetics, PFC: Yearwood, Young; Privates: Gorman, Griffin, Griffis.

Returned to the US:

7 Nov 44 - 448th BS War Diary: T/Sgt. Jacobson and S/Sgt. White returned to the United States. Today the squadron again participated in two missions against the enemy.
